Before the first crisp morning or earliest changing leaves, I begin to refresh my closet for fall with emerging styles in beautiful autumn tones. This time of year is the best for fashion, as there are so many beautiful textures and layers and darker, richer colours that I love. Take a peek at some of my past favourite fall looks and the styles I’m still loving and wearing.

...

WOOL BLAZER WITH ELBOW PATCHES
AND RIDING BOOTS

One item that continues to be a timeless staple in my fall wardrobe is an everyday blazer. I especially love the way a wool blazer with suede elbow patches looks combined with skinny jeans and riding boots for a casual, yet tailored fall style. It gives me Scottish countryside feels.. Add a suede hat and you are good to go for a horse ride in the wild.

 BOHEMIAN DRESS

When it comes to dresses, ease and effortlessness are at the top of my list of what I want to wear. Of course, I still want to feel put together, but in pieces that feel relaxed and feminine at the same time. So, when a few years ago Zara came with these lightweight embroidered dresses with balloon sleeves in different colours, I bought all of the options.. If you follow me for a while, you know that I have a variation of the same dress in black, burgundy and white. This green one though, is perfect for a weekend in the woods combined with a knee high riding boots and messy hair style that represents that gypsy, bohemian vibe of the life in woods.

 EXAGGERATED SHOULDERS SWEATER

AND LUG SOLE BOOTS

Since the Isabel Marant’s Fall ’19 collection came out the cable-knit sweaters with relaxed fit and chunky ribbed trims that create a striking layered effect became a timeless classic. You can combine them with almost anything in your wardrobe. Any sort of exaggerated shoulder or sleeve detail will provide a really nice updated look to your basic sweater. This includes bell, puff, flounce, ruffle, and balloon sleeves or even shoulder pads! Throw it over some denim, add knee high lug sole boots, which are still popular, by the way, for some extra warmth and dimension to your everyday look.

 BLANKET SCARF AND  NEUTRAL ACCESSORIES

There's something about fall that always inspires me with an extra dose of creativity when it comes to accessorising. In the fall the weather is perfect for layering your favourite sweater with a big, cozy scarf.. I don't know, but there is something so cozy in a big, wool scarf wrapped around the shoulders in the autumn sunshine. Add some suede accessories in complimenting warm neutral tones and you are good to go for a walk in the fall wonderland that the nature is this time of year.

 PLAID COAT AND CHELSEA BOOTS

If there’s anything I’ve learned about getting dressed through the years, it’s that the key to achieving a polished, sophisticated look is actually quite easy. The formula entails dressing up in neutrals, particularly beige and camel tones, and throwing on a pair of heels or, like in this case, classic ankle boots. From September till the first really cold autumn/winter days the Chelsea Boots are typically the first pair of shoes I opt for on a daily basis. They’re comfortable enough to walk around in all day, yet polished enough for my favourite fall outfits. I love to pair these with my favourite jeans and a cozy sweater. Finally, nothing seems as chic as a plaid coat or a blazer. Since coats tend to be investment pieces, I used to stick to very neutral, solid-colored styles that I could wear with absolutely anything. A few years ago, though, I realized how much I loved the personality a patterned coat could bring to any look. One that I’ve been especially loving lately is the plaid/houndstooth pattern of all shades and colors, but I’ve always gravitated towards brown tones for its classic, vintage look. Also, I love a menswear-style one that I can throw over almost anything. No matter how you wear it, the coat’s pattern pulls any look together to make your outfit feel polished and thoughtful.

Guess is an American clothing brand and retailer, notable for its black-and-white ads. It began in 1981 as a book of styles started by Georges, Maurice, Armand, and Paul Marciano. Shortly after that the brothers switched to selling jeans with a light, form-fitting denim and zippers at the ankles. Today Guess is offering licensed products, including watches, eyewear, jewelry, perfumes, bags and shoes.

Cessily is one of the brand’s most recognizable bags. Every season there is a huge selection of Cessily bags in all kinds of colours and materials. I, personally, am a huge fan of the model, and was really confused by this variety. In the end, I decided to get the black quilted model first, since it's the most versatile one, but as you might imagine I didn't stop there. More about that later..

In today's post, I’m going to take you through all the detailed features of the bag, my first impressions and why this treasure belongs in my collection (and whether it should belong in yours too)

…TO THE POINT

Cessily bag by Guess, made of high-quality eco-leather. Stylish model with quilted effect and triangle logo detail.

  • Adjustable strap with chains and faux leather inserts
  • Closing with flap and magnetic buttons
  • One main compartment
  • Internal zip pocket
  • Quilted effect
  • Triangle logo detail on the front
  • Dimensions: 17 x 26 x 7 cm
  • Composition: 100% polyurethane
  • Color: black

As I mentioned before, one of my favourite things about Guess’ Cessily crossbody bag is its versatility. It is youthful and urban yet elegant, which makes it the perfect companion for any occasion you may encounter on your day. You can wear it to work, run errands or attend an event, and it will look appropriate every time. Although I am becoming a fan of colourful handbags, nothing beats the utility of a black leather bag. I love how the gold chain and hardware add distinction to the bag without making it too flashy and the comfort when I carry it around. It already has a spot in my collection and is definitely going to be seen a lot on the blog and my Instagram profile.

With the start of a new season, it’s time to swap out our summer lipstick shades to more nude and berry tones. My signature autumn lip combo that I wear pretty much daily this time of year is Subculture Lip Liner and Half 'n Half Lipstick by M.A.C.
However, this season brings so many vibrant redspinks and oranges that I’ve found myself adding a bold lip colour to many of my looks.

When I was young, lip liner seemed to me as one of those beauty products that only my groundmother would love and that I'll never actually need. I was wrong! The subtle magic of lip liner is universal, no matter if you are planning to wear lipstik or lip gloss. Nothing primes lips for a long-lasting, smooth look quite like a flattering neutral lip liner or a shade that perfectly matches your lipstick.
When shopping for a lip liner, you want a formula that won't bleed as time progresses or feather into fine lines. Also, you want one that lasts all day and isn't difficult to apply. Lastly, you'll want a generous shade range, within which you can find a versatile nude that goes with everything.

A new lip colour can refresh or add a touch of glam to any style. The beauty of wearing the right shade of lipstick is that it can enhance the rest of your makeup, leaving a finished and more polished look. Applying lip colour is simple, but here are a couple extra tricks to try as well.

Using a lip liner in a neutral tone can accentuate the curves of the mouth, or even make lips appear a bit smaller, depending on the application technique. To slightly minimize lip size, cover lips completely with a bit of skin coloured concealer. Trace just inside the actual lines of the mouth with the lip liner to create a smaller shape, and colour in with the same lip liner. Gently smudge the lines just a little to make the new shape appear natural. Finish with a favourite neutral shade of lipstick.

To enhance the shape of the mouth, trace just outside the actual lines of the mouth with a lip liner and fill-in the lines with the same lip liner. Slightly smudge the lines to create a natural look. Then add a bold colour of lipstick that compliments your skin tone. Most changes will be subtle, but effective in giving you the lips you want with just a few quick and easy steps!

Just like that, the August chapter has closed and we make way for September. It is hard to believe that the end of summer is upon us. However, I am not quite ready to give it up just yet and you should not either! There are just a few more weeks of warm weather left before we start to transition into fall. I want to make the most of it by going outdoors more, spending time with family and just enjoying life before autumn officially hits. This also means that we are in the final weeks of wearing our precious skirts, dresses and mini skirts, so let’s make it count. If you are ready to celebrate the final weeks of summer, here are some chic end of summer outfits to ensure you end the season with a bang.

...

Old Time Elegance

I’ve been living in shirtdresses with midi-length hems lately. This type of dresses, in particular, perfectly exemplifies what I love about this style: it creates a look that is effortlessly elegant, polished, and timeless. There’s an effortless glamour from time’s past that has slowly been forgotten over the years, and although I love jeans and a tee as much as the next girl, a bit of old school elegance is what I really love.

Easy, Breezy Summer Dresses

and

Straw Accessories

My closet is filled with natural fibers and textures like raffia, straw, and jute. I love bringing elements of the natural world into my style , especially in the summertime.
Hats are an essential accessory for me all year long, with straw wide-brim hats being an absolute must in the summer months. A well constructed boater hat like this one is a summer staple that will transition seamlessly from the pool or beach to an afternoon or even evening outing. Combine it with your favourite colourful dress and you are good to go.

 Wide-Leg Pants

Off-The-Shoulders Top

Here is your go-to outfit that will leave everyone speechless - wide-leg pants with delicate embroidered off-the-shoulders bohemian top. These two pieces together are classic pairings done by glamorous 50s movie stars.
The wide leg pants are versatile with the perfect fit and feel so much better than your favourite jeans. With an array of colours to pick from and a flattering wide silhouette, these pants make the ultimate foundation piece for any outfit. Style them for work with a pair of pumps or breeze through the weekend in them with sneakers.

Summer Matching Sets

The matching blazers and shorts make getting dressed a piece of cake, leaving you more time to play around with different accessories.
During this transitional time as summer begins to give way to fall, I plan on wearing all of my matching summer suits that I never had the chance to enjoy to the fullest since it was way too hot for them in July and August, but now it seems like the weather is more than perfect.

plaid pattern typically lends itself more with the fall season, which we are slowly approaching, but this particular design features a lighter colour palette, making it totally wearable in the end of summer too.

Summer Whites

No matter the season, white serves as one of the staple shades in my wardrobe. Also, the easiest way to keep cool in these balmy summers is to wear white clothes in breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. It’s no surprise that my collection of breezy white dresses or simple button downs has grown exponentially over the last few years. Along with being the perfect choice for hot summer days, they also boast an effortless style I can rarely resist. For that reason I’m always on the lookout for unique details and silhouettes that make a white dress or a white shirt unlike any other.

Bohemian Vibes

Basket Bags

I think it’s safe to say that I have a basket bag addiction. It all started a few years ago with one tote…and then spiraled into a full-on obsession. I have far too many than I need, yet, I always find a reason for a new one. They’re quite possibly my favourite thing to wear everyday besides dresses, and more often than not, you’ll see me carrying one.  I personally love the texture that it adds to any outfit - tee and jeans just look cuter with a little tote, and some of my favourite dresses feel more day appropriate when I wear them with any one of my baskets.

I have always been a fan of everything bohemian, especially in the summertime. What I mean by bohemian - think of all clothing pieces related to hippie fashion, in which natural fabrics, retro patterns, neutrals and warm shades merge with 70s style accentsThe bohemian style is all about relaxation, so avoid your skintight shirts or body-hugging dresses. Look for billowing dresses and soft, flowing tops. If you can run through a field of flowers comfortably, it's probably a great bohemian piece.

...

I hope these looks inspire you to go big and dress up in accordance with the end of summer.

Consider this your check list for your next summer get-away.

The truth is most of us pack more than we’ll ever need for a summer holiday, completely ignoring the majority of the contents of our suitcase and simply living in the same dress all week long. Consider this a quick check list to avoid over-packing and taking pieces that you have the best intention of wearing, but never actually will. So, I’ve complied an edit of the coolest pieces a.k.a. true summer staples that will legitimately take you from city to beach, day to night and ensure that you avoid those excess luggage charges.

 Bathing Suit

When it comes to swimwear, I've always preferred one-piece silhouettes. Not only are they more comfortable to wear, but I also love their irresistibly classic feel, a subtle nod to style from decades past.

When selecting a new suit I try to find a fit that feels not only comfortable but also covering all the right places, so you could show off your summer glow with no worries at all.

This season has a variety of textures and prints to make finding the perfect summer swimsuit that much easier!

See below for a few of my favourites right now!

Wide-brim Hat

Hats have always been a staple of my summer wardrobe, both for sun protection and for style. Even the simplest outfit feels intentional and put-together when topped with a beautiful hat.

Classic and feminine, the straw hat is perfect for an afternoon stroll, especially when paired with your favourite dress.

 White Shirt

One of my everyday staples is a classic white button down that serves as the foundation piece from which to build new looks.

Whether relaxing in the park, or heading to the beach, this classic button-up shirt is an easy throw-on piece to pair with sandals and denim shorts.

A classic shirt is always nice, but finding one with added details like a ruffled collar or embroidery  is always special.

Lately, I have loved striped models perfect for the seaside, obviously.

 Basket Bag

Over the years I've collected my share of basket bags, finally whittled down last year to a hand full of favourite styles. The texture and structure in these natural fiber bags compliment a variety of looks, especially during the spring and summer months. Woven totes, in particular, offer the room to carry all of my essentials when I'm on the go.

A mini basket bag, like this one with green textile handles with little white flowers, is perfect for pairing with your favourite summer dress for an evening stroll near the beach.

Dress

A mini dress adds a relaxed, easy going style for summer, especially when paired with simple sandals or slides. Staying cool and comfortable this time of year is a definite priority, with heat and humidity on the rise. A breezy mini dress offers a great solution with minimal effort and a maximum return. Whether you are searching for a simple shirtdress, or something more romantic and/or statement-worthy, see below for the prettiest minis to wear all summer long!

Denim shorts

A quintessential summer-time classic that looks as good in the city as it does on the beach. Whether you prefer light washmedium wash, or dark wash, a pair of denim shorts is a timeless staple - tone it down with ugly dad sandals (a staple this summer) or your favourite white sneakers and a flower crown.

Retro Sunglasses

One of my biggest sources of inspiration is classic movies, so it’s no surprise that I now gravitate toward silhouettes and details that will stand the test of time. Even when I’m wearing a more simple outfit, I love adding a vintage-inspired twist with sunglasses – you’ll never find me without a pair in my bag! From cat-eye shapes to coloured frames, sunglasses can make a big statement, regardless of their price tag.

After years of over-packing I’ve finally understood that less is in fact more. What are your ultimate clothing pieces and/or accessories that you never travel without?

No matter the season, white serves as one of the staple shades in my wardrobe. Also, the easiest way to keep cool in these balmy summers is to wear white clothes in breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. It’s no surprise that my collection of breezy white dresses has grown exponentially over the last few years. Along with being the perfect choice for hot summer days, they also boast an effortless style I can rarely resist. For thet reason I’m always on the lookout for unique details and silhouettes that make a white dress unlike any other. I bought this white Stradivarius shirtdress at the end of August last summer - it’s the perfect dress to spend long days walking and exploring while traveling. That's why I took it with me to Greece.. Plus, a classic shirtdress like this can be worn long after you come home from a trip. It’s one of my favourite styles to wear on a daily basis and even at work at the pharmacy. This one is cut to perfection- it ties at the waist, flattering the figure and is a midi length, which is the perfect length for an everyday dress in my opinion.

Whether we’re traveling or I’m just running regular errands at home, I always find a big (or small) basket bag useful. I personally love the texture that it adds to any outfit - tee and jeans just look cuter with a little tote, and some of my favourite dresses feel more day appropriate when I wear them with any one of my baskets.
Perhaps best of all, basket bags come in a huge variety of price points, so no matter what your budget is, they’re a piece you can easily add to your summer wardrobe. If you love the look as much as I do, I can promise from experience: the cost-per-wear will end up in pennies!

I love pairing those breezy summer looks with neutral sandals, like this strap pair from    Deichmann. I bought them a few years ago in tan and in black and they are still my favourite sandals to wear all summer long with any one of my dresses. The leather is so soft and buttery and they’re  incredibly comfortable to spend the day walking around in ( I took them with me not only in Greece, but in Venice too, and there is a lot of walking in Venice I can assure you!). I highly recommend them if you’re  looking for a good traveling sandal. Plus, this tan colour is     basically a neutral, so they go with everything.
