I’ve never been one to follow “style rules”…instead, I wear whatever makes me happy on any given day. That has always been my mantra, and it has resulted in some of my favorite outfits over the years.. Even in winter, I don’t hesitate to style pastels from head to toe. For example, one of my favorite colours - pink, never fails to brighten my day and make me feel like the most joyful version of myself.
In a sea of holiday red and green, wintery neutrals, and all the dark colours that we find in stores most often this time of year, reaching for a blush trench coat and a pink wool beret feels like a breath of fresh air. Especially on the coldest, dreariest days, a choice as simple as opting for a pastel pink outfit over a neutral one instantly lifts my mood.

Outerwear
At this point, I might own a trench coat in every single colour under the sun and of course, pink is certainly not an exception! I styled this blush pink trench coat over a grey midi dress and accessorised with wool beret in the same pink shade as the trench, riding boots and of course, my beloved Karl Lagerfeld Bucket Bag to fully complete that French girl vibe. However, I could also see this trench coat styled down and paired with some no-fuss denim.
Investing in an outerwear option in pink is perfect for those who love layering. You’d be surprised by the many outfit combinations you can make with a colored jacket!
Matching Set
When going after a new trend, I always suggest shopping for matching sets when possible because it does not require you to spin your wheels on how to style something new. A coordinating top or a jacket and a matching bottom ensures you have a killer outfit every time. Pink is a pretty standout colour by itself but there are actually a plethora of colour combinations that would complement this pastel shade beautifully. In this outfit, I styled this blush pink trench and beret with light grey dress, for a fun and bright transitional look. I kept the accessories simple by opting for black boots and a bag to create dimension and interest!
Footwear
One of the easiest ways to incorporate a new shade into your closet is through accessorising. Personally, I have been absolutely adoring pink footwear because it adds such an unexpected splash of colour to any look. You could choose to highlight the shoes by opting for an all-neutral outfit so the pink heels or boots stand out. Or you could blend them in more by styling with other pop colours or by even going after a monochromatic look!
Cold Weather Accessories
From chic berets, just like the one I'm wearing in today's post, to a wide-brim hat or even a beanie, there are endless opportunities. If you’re not sure you can “pull off” a hat, I encourage you to find one you love and give it a try - I think you’ll be surprised by how confident it will make you feel!
In terms of cold weather accessories, I would have to say that a scarf is the one I cannot live without. For me, wrapping up in a warm scarf that keeps my neck shielded from the cold makes a big difference. Plus, if you wear the right scarf, you can actually gain a lot of style points with a plethora of different outfits.
