‘Tis the season for holiday celebrations, family traditions, office parties, annual soirées, and a seemingly endless stream of festivities, much to my delight. In addition to all of that, this is the time of year when the joy of treating a loved one to a gift that is
beautiful, luxurious, and just a little bit over-the-top is too
delightful to resist! Especially if gift giving is your love language
like it is mine, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone’s
eyes light up and hearing them say “Oh, you shouldn’t have!” when
opening something you knew they would love. And since this is a style/beauty blog, we are concentrating solely on beauty products and little things that would be perfect stocking stuffers.
In case you’re picking up a few last-minute beauty goodies for someone this week, here are a few of my favorite finds.
It’s been a while since I last did a skincare post (see what kind of products I use on a daily basis here, here and here), so I thought it was
about time I put it all together and share what are my current additions. In general, I have oily, acne-prone skin, so I’m always looking for new
products to nourish my skin and help it look
its best.. And as much as I am
loyal to my favorite lines that I re-stock up on every few months, I do
like to switch it up and try new products to see what results I might
get from them. With that said, today's post is all about my favorite face masks by Lóreal Paris, which I try to use at least once a week now, and honestly I could not imagine me not using them anymore.
I have been on a bit of a skincare kick lately. With winter in full swing my health can get a little out of whack, with colder weather and Holiday season not so long ago I fall behind on eating healthy, also my workout schedule is not what I would like it to be, so, it is no surprise that my skin was starting to feel the consequences in the last few weeks. And even though I'm working as a full-time pharmacist, I always make sure to pamper my skin and take good care of it since my teenage years. I have had very bad acne-prone skin in the past, and nothing has helped me till I started using consistently the right products for my skin problems (see my previous posts on the theme here and here). In the last couple of months I have tried a bunch of different products, including one brand in particular that I had been dying to try. I had heard great things about the swiss skincare brand Skincode but never tested them. So, I picked up some of their top sellers and put them to the test.
I’ve always believed that healthy skin
starts from within. There is no one-step process that will magically
transform your skin. Rather, it’s a series of choices - from eating
habits to the products you use – that have the greatest impact. For me,
it was adding small but subtle changes to my everyday that created the
biggest difference. It was changing my diet, switching
from carbonated/sugary drinks to water, and putting a big focus on
sticking to a skincare routine consistently. Consistency is key! I found that the hard way since I had very bad acne in my teenage years..
Since then I’m
always open to trying new products to nourish my skin and help it look
its best. But there is one Bioderma series that since I found about and tried it myself never left my skincare routine, they even became my number one products that I would recommend to anyone no matter of their skin type.
As much as I love the sun and a sun-kissed glow, I also care about my
skin. I care about the health of it, its longevity and protecting it
from harmful UV rays. I wasn’t always great about wearing sunscreen. I
used to care more about having a tan than what would happen to my skin
years down the road. But now that I’m much more aware of all the
preventative measures I can take to not only keep my skin looking fresh,
but also free of things like brown spots and skin cancer, I go out of
my way to always apply sunscreen and carry a hat with me whenever I’m on
the beach.
Usually I start with products with higher SPF factor but after day or two under the sun, I normally switch to tanning oils with lower SPF factor. (You can see some of my favorite products here.) Of course, I have a bit darker skin by nature, but if you are very pale, I recommend starting with SPF 50 and stick to it the whole time you are on holiday except maybe the last few days when your skin has developed a healthy tan.
I have used Vichy, La Roche-Posay, NUXE, Galénic and other medical brands since I'm a pharmacist and know how important sun protection is, but have always wanted to try one very well-known and popular brand - Hawaiian Tropic and finally I did it. As usual I tried the lowest possible SPF factor - their Dry Tanning Oil with SPF 6. I was literally blown away! This is the most magical tanning oil I have used so far. It's oil but it is not oily at all when you apply it on your skin. It absorbs almost immediately while at the same time hydrates your skin leaving it nourished and protected. It literally drenches your skin in protective moisture as it is said on their website. In addition to this their products are enriched with Shea butter, Vitamin C and Vitamine E and have the most amazing coconut smell.
Another thing that impressed me even more is their After Sun Lotion. Again, I have tried A LOT after sun creams and lotions, which are good too, don't get me wrong, but this particular one by Hawaiian Tropic is something else. The formula is enriched with Silk protein and Shea butter which moisturize and refresh the skin, while the added Aloe Vera extract soothes your sun-kissed skin after a radiant day spent relaxing outdoors. The texture and the feeling you get while applying it is something really magical, not to mention the dreamy coconut / papaya smell which is definitely out of this world!
I'm eager to try more of these amazing products in the future and could not recommend them enough since I got back home.
Have you tried them and did you find them amazing as I do? If not, what are your favorite brands and products for the beach and after?
P.S. In Bulgaria, you can find Hawaiian Tropic products here.
The skin changes
during puberty: it becomes thicker, shiny and less soft. The more or
less significant blemishes that appear sometimes continue through to
adulthood. As I always had acne-prone skin I decided to share with you my favourite products, which I use on a daily basis to maintain my skin's condition. All of these products are by the french brand BIODERMA that offers a new generation of anti-blemish treatments. They act directly on sebum quality thanks to the Fluidactiv® patented complex found in all of the range's products.
Unlike last time when I was talking to you about Sun care products and getting healthy tanned skin, today's post is all about having a glowing skin without sun exposure.
Nowadays there are hundreds of different products promising you tanned look, but when it comes to autobronzants the choice is never easy. Noone wants to look like a carrot or wants to leave orange marks on any surface he touches. That's the reason why for years I have never ever even thought about trying such products until this summer. Shortly after I got back from my holiday my skin regained her pale winter tone in just three short weeks. That was the moment when I decided to finally buy an autobronzant and experiment a little bit.
So, this is the product that I can't recommend enough ever since - Ideal Soleil Hydra-Bronzing Self-Tanning Milk for face and body by Vichy.
It provides a natural-looking radiant and progressive tan, with a streak free finish. The melting texture leaves a velvety non-greasy finish that hydrates your skin for up to 8 hours. Of course, it is tested under dermatological control and is suitable for sensitive skin. Contains no parabens and as every Vichy product it is enriched with Vichy Thermal Spa Water.
If you still are not sure what you think about autobronzants, I have other suggestions for you.
Since we're in the middle of summer and many of you are going on vacations, I decide to share with you my favourite sun care products. As much as I love a nice glowing tan in the summertime, I never forget to bring with me the right products to protect my skin from the UV lights. That's way I usually start with products with higher SPF factor - like this Anthelios SPF 20 body spray shown on the picture above. (Of course, I have a bit darker skin by nature, but if you are very pale, I recommend starting with SPF 50 like this one from La Roche-Posay.) It is suitable for the whole family's sensitive skin, sun intolerances or those that may be exposed to intense sun regularly, also it is easy to apply and water resistant.
When my skin gets a little bit tanned I turn to dry oils with lower SPF factor. My two favourites are Galénic Sun Care Silky Dry Oil Body Spray SPF15 and NUXE Sun Tanning Oil for Face and Body SPF10. But since they provide lower protection, you must apply them more frequently.
